Next Generation Console Reviews - All in one.

XBox1, PS4, Wii U“it's brilliant”

Finally, the next gen review you need!

There's a lot of guff about the next generation consoles. Which is best? Which to buy?

So here is the definitive set of reviews and the answer to the question "which should I buy".

I'll do this in release order, so first up:

Wii U

Nintendo's follow up to the incredibly successful and family friendly Wii. SOme people don't seem to have realised it's a completely new console, or so Nintendo say.

The console is fantastic for people who love to play Nintendo games. It's the only place you'll be able to play the latest Nintendo releases. If you dislike Nintendo games, then there's not a great deal else around on the console you can't find on other platforms.

Who should buy it?

People who love to play Nintendo games and love Nintendo.

When should I buy it?

When you can afford it, and it's currently pretty cheap. If you have the cash and like Nintendo games, it's a perfect time right now.

What if I don't like Nintendo games?

If you really don't, don't bother.

Playstation 4

The first of the "true Next Gen" (i.e. has stand out hardware specifications over other consoles) from Sony. It's going to have all your favourite Sony first party titles, lots of cross platform titles, a Sony controller and Sony hyperbole. If you love Sony platforms and their first party games, it's brilliant. If you don't, it's not.

Who should buy it?

People who love to play Sony games and love Sony.

When should I buy it?

When you can afford it, and when it becomes available again. If you're on the fence, maybe wait and see what all your mates have bought? Maybe wait until there are more games you want to play that become available.

What if I don't like Sony games or consoles?

If you really don't, don't bother.

XBox 1

The close second on sale of the "true Next Gen" (i.e. has stand out hardware specifications over other consoles) from Microsoft. It's going to have all your favourite XBox first party titles, lots of cross platform titles, an XBox controller and Microsoft hyperbole. If you love Microsoft platforms and their first party games, it's brilliant. If you don't, it's not.

So there we are. The definitive answer is "buy the console that appeals to YOU!" Don't like consoles, feel free to get a PC and play on that. It really is that simple, and so this must surely mean the end to all arguments? Remember it's "can I afford it?", "does it play games I want to play?" and then "do enough of my friends have them so I'm part of a gaming social group with them?" Very simple stuff really. Specifications? What are they?
